Can i just install ITunes
Before I developed an interest in Linux I used Windows XP (yeah I know, I know don't rub it in!!!) Now I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 and I really need to use ITunes if possible. All of my music files (over 100 Gb) are in my iTunes library. I don't look forward to having to reboot to windows to listen to my tunes and download songs ,vids and podcasts to my iPod Touch

Wine can run iTunes, but not everything works properly. What are you trying to do, just play your music or actually sync with a player?

What fictions won't work

Sorry that was "functions"
|
According to the Wine HQ Applications Database no syncing functions actually work. So you can play and organize music (purchasing from iTunes even seems to work), but not actually sync them to an iPod.
This makes it pretty much useless in my mind, unless you actually purchase music and content from the iTunes store. For music playback/library functions and iPod syncing, Amarok will work much much better than trying to run iTunes through Wine. |
Gtkpod may be worth a look also. Here's a link:

I run MicroXp in VirtualBox for those 'must do in windows' chores. Its just easier and I'm running windows via a linux host which just seems to make it all OK.
