Can I choose a spellchecker automatically on the fly?

I wonder if there exists some piece of software that would recognize the language you're typing on the fly and set the corresponding dictionary. I'd be interested in two situations: a text editor like vi and a browser like Midori or Firefox.

In vi and Firefox the situation is not so bad cause I can just let it know in which language I'm typing. But ever since I moved to Midori as a main browser I realized that the spellchecker uses as many dictionaries as you tell it, so if you're writing in Portuguese but type a correctly spelled word in English it doesn't recognize the mistake.

I figured I'd ask here if such a program exists out there.

Hi,

as far as I can tell, spelling-checkers work only for one language at once.

For Firefox there is at least on plugin available which (tries) to switch the dictionary automatically depending on the language of the website.

As for aspell, I once tried to use it for English and German at once, it did not work although I asked here at LQ for a solution.

One possible solution would be, to put often used words into the personal dictionary.
