yes clam can but there are some command line switches that you have to make, there also can be danger in doing this as it can remove something that you might need.

I have been running clam on my suse10 and i have made 3 icons that dose the basics for virus scanning. (point to note there are not many virus for linux). I only use clam due to im downloading from the web, and its my Email PC.

the 3 command line i am using are

freshclam
This is for online updating. You will have to be root to run this

clamscan -r -d
This will scan you home drive and everything in it. but this dose not remove ANYTHING it will only tell you that you have a virus.

clamscan / -r -d
this will scan ALL of your PC (root level) and root is also needed for this.

So i dont keep on having to type this in all the time i just made a link to a appucation and set the command line switches in there and made it so it logged in as root. So when i click on the icon all i have to do is type in my root password.

For more command line switches there is a PDF on the clam website that you can download that will have all the switches that you will need. or some a limited set type in

clamscan -h

this will give you some of the switches.

Hope this helps

keith
