while displaying splash screen i guess, the black window with ubuntu logo and a progress bar, i see one msg at bottom

its lik

Routine check up drives: /dev/sda6

and it take time to finish that check , after that only i can login
it occurs i think after 10 consecutive bootups

Any one knws , why this occurs , and to stop and proceed this check up in background, without wasting boot time

To avoid it : Try to use another

file system e.g. jfs ( instead of ext 3 )

if sda6 is your / then i think Linux wont start unless it is checked.

this check automatically starts after a certain amount of time has passed after the last check
or after the drive has been mounted for a number of times without being checked.

EDIT: check this post on ubuntu forums, hope it helps
