Can't Print in Foxfire 3.0 after Upgrade from Foxfire 1.5
Need some help with Foxfire 3.0. I'm running Mandriva 2007 Powerpack edition. I've been running Firefox 1.5 since the beginning and everything worked great. More and more sites complained that I was running an out of date browser so I finally downloaded and expanded Firefox 3.0 to my /home/****/Download directory while still maintaining my Firefox 1.5 in the /usr/share/ directory. I tried the Firefox 3.0 by launching the application from the firefox shell script file. I did not like what I saw so I went back to using the 1.5 version. Yesterday, I gave in and loaded the 3.0 version. I downloaded all the latest add-ins such as Flash and Adobe Reader to add to version 3.0 of Firefox. I finally got version 3.0 of Firefox working to my satisfaction, I tested most all the add-ins to make sure they worked, then I deleted the entire folder of version 1.5 Firefox from the /usr/share/ directory and replaced it with the version 3.0 Firefox in the /usr/share/ directory. As I was using the version 3.0, I needed to print a simple web page, after I clicked on the browser toolbar printer button, the entire Firefox browser crashed. I started the browser back up, went to a different web address and tried to print a simple page, samething happened, the browser crashed. I could print anything and everything with version 1.5. What have I deleted when I deleted the Firefox 1.5 folder ? I went back to the trash can and tried to retrieve the 1.5 folder but it's gone. Any help ?

Firefox Printing Problems
I laughed while I read your post having experienced the same problem. I ran across a post somewhere, where you can overcome the problem within FF but I chose to find a workaround rather than working the Konsole to alter FF. I am Konsole challenged.
If within FF you want to print, print to file, then go the file and print it. Usually it works, not always for me. PCLinuxOS 2007, a Mandriva flavor. Otherwise, launch Konqueror, go the site, I presume you are printing off the net, it almost always will print.
Good luck, Michael

Thanks mogrady, I can print within Konqueror. I have subsquently up graded to FF 3.0.4 but still, no print. I read and tried a suggestion from the linuxquestions.org desktop forum to go to the about:config page from within FF and reset the print.print.printer file, this was correct before I reset the string, but no luck, did not work.
I "Googled" the problem and came up with a lot of similar complaints, primarily with Ubuntu, but no solutions. This is really a showstopper for Mozilla in my opinion.

Ya Know Cara,
I enjoy Linux but it does take a fair amount of fooling around to get everything to work when you want it, how you want it. I go between Firefox, Opera, and Konqueror for particular stuff but no one distro, app, seems to work perfectly on everything. I tend to be more a work around guy than problems solver. Much less time involved.
I spent a lot of time over a couple days trying to download Firefox 3.0.4 and then get Adobe flash on it. And in the end, it is extrmemly unstable and bugzilla is somewhat of pain for reporting bugs. I just hope my bug reporting helps. You might report the bug. Reporting, however, is not a rewarding experience. Not as bad as Fedora, though.
Good luck, Michael

Printing In Firefox
Cara25,
I am running Mepis 7.0 on an old machine with FF 3.0.6 and went ahead and checked out the printing of a screen shot. I didn't use the keyboard print screen button. I used the print option from the file button.
My homepage is an iGoogle page and my printer is a Brother laser jet.
When I tried to print the iGoogle page it froze FF and I had to terminate the program. I brought up FF again and went to Drudge Report it printed, all three pages fine. You might just have a particular page that FF doesn't like. I would upgrade to 3.0.6 and see what happens.
I use Opera as my main browser and sometimes it won't print some sites. Konqueror always seems to print but I don't use it much.
Good Luck, Michael
