Can't compile lufs on 64bit

I can't get lufs to compile on 64 bit Fedora core 5. I just get this error:

Quote:
*** Warning: Linking the shared library liblufs-gnetfs.la against the

gcc -shared .libs/xfer.o .libs/search.o .libs/vtree.o .libs/gnetfs.o libgnet.a -lpthread -Wl,-soname -Wl,liblufs-gnetfs.so.1 -o .libs/liblufs-gnetfs.so.1.0.0
/usr/bin/ld: libgnet.a(gnet_engine.o): relocation R_X86_64_32 against `a local symbol' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC
libgnet.a: could not read symbols: Bad value

I found this similar thread, but can't make head nor tail of the 'solution' this guy found

Can anyone help?

LUFS is obsolete, what do you need it for?

I think you need it for captive-ntfs, don't you?
I think I read that somewhere

Yes, here:
"Captive binds drivers as userland file-
systems (LUFS) [5], so you will need to
install LUFS in order to use Captive."

Hmmm, nevermind: just came across this:

Quote:
October 31 2004, Jan Kratochvil posted
a message in the project mailing list
announcing the end of development
work. He stated that the final release had
all the functionality it needed, and this
means that Service Pack 2 support is not
included. If you have installed SP2, you
will not be able to use the drivers.
