You don't have to install anything. It's just installed.

It's still installed too. You could remove it deleting its directory.

There are some tools for example
apt-get
Another suggestion to run the new version of firefox only. After removing the old version (find and remove it) you could create a link to the new one in the
/usr/bin directory using the command
ln -s (look for the man for further info)
