Can't start xsane
 

I can't get xsane working for several reasons.
I'll post them one at a time.
I get the following error message when trying to use root.

Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified


(xsane:10674): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:

I also get this error message with another program.
Not sure which one.

Any ideas on solving this?

That's because you're trying to start the program
as another user than the one who's running the
X session, or you're not in X at all ...
