Can't start X after installing XFree86 4.5.0

I installed XFree86 4.5.0, and did so after stopping X, but after the install when I try to start X I get a fatal server error: Cannot run in framebuffer mode. Please specify busIDs for all framebuffer devices. When checking the XFree86.0.log file I only have an EE on Unable to locate/open config file.
When I checked the config files in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/getconfig, xorg.cfg and xfree86.cfg, there was almost nothing in them. All they both have is Xorg Foundation getconfig rules file. Version: 1.0 and $weight = 1000. After that theres nothing. Any idea what should be in these config files? I'm guessing that I'm missing quite a lot of info in both of these. Any ideas? Oh and if you couldn't tell already I'm very new to linux so please dumb down your answers to the second grade level. Thanks

With xfree you will probably have a commandline config tool as well. This should generate a basic configuration that should you get started.

Config files for X are usually in /etc/X..... Maybe you have more luck in there.

Which distro do you use?

I'm using Suse 10 on an IBM T23 with a S3 supersavage graphics chip.
