can't start apache server after configuring, compiling and installing.
Hi, ppl!
I've decided to install apache server from ground
zero. So I've done next things:
1)downloaded source tar with apache2
2)unzipped it
3)./configure(d) it
4)make
5)make install
...But!!! I can't start it. apachectl in /usr/local/apache2/bin
error answer is:

[root@dhcppc1 bin]# apachectl start
httpd: Could not open configuration file /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf: No such file or directory

Note!!! before I've compiled I deleted directory
/etc/httpd because I think that while compiling
everything necessary would be installed and any
directories would be made.
The problem is: How to start apache?
When you removed /etc/httpd, did you make any backups? Maybe next time you should. In the directory you build Apache2 in there should be one or more example configuration files that may or may not have been installed. Search for them, install if necessary and configure. Then run 'apachectl configtest' to see if that configuration will work.
with errors is done. That was because SELinux dont allow.
but now command:
apachectl start is good
but it is just silently failed to run httpd.
I looked ps -A and there is no httpd running.
In logs nothing either.
any ideas?

Rep:
This likely won't help, but, some time ago, when I ran a web server with apache2, the command I used to start it was "apache2 -k start", or "apache2 -k restart".
