Can't seek by chapter playing mkv with xine

I made a Xvid mkv from one of my DVDs and put chapters in it. Both xine and mplayer handle the file perfectly. With xine, however, I can't seek chapters. Chapters work correctly in mplayer using the '@' and '!' keys (forward & back).

Is there any key sequence that works in xine or is xine simply incapable of skipping the chapters that are defined in an mkv? The next and previous buttons on the xine controls have no effect either.

I finally gave up on both mplayer and totem. If it wasn't a problem with sync with one interface, it was a max filesize of 2GB with another. I switched to VLC. I can't say that the UI is as usable as totem, but at least it plays the movie without any glitches.

Thanks, that may be the solution. VLC does indeed recognize and navigate the chapters in my mkv file but the hotkeys only work if in full screen mode. Any idea why? VLC is the active window but it won't honor key presses until I switch to full screen mode.
