Can't run X --Need Help

Okay so I did an apt update on my machines and some how now when it boots up it don't go into kde and when I type in startx it gives me this

#startx

/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xinit/xserverrc: line 2: /usr/bin/X11/X: No such file or directory
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xinit/xserverrc: line 2: exec: /usr/bin/X11/X: cannot execute: No such file or directory
/usr/X11R6/bin/xinit: Server error.

I've already ran #apt-get install X
and that didn't work. Does anyone know howto solve my problem?

try

sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg

or

sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

You can also try to load X directly by just typing it

and did you try starting X with /etc/init.d/gdm start (or kdm, xdm, etc)

(im not familier with Kanotix, but in debian/ubuntu that would be right)

How about posting the logs to your X server? It would help with troubleshooting the problem.

It looks like the symlink to the X binary is broken.

To fix:

cd /etc/X11
rm X
ln -s /usr/bin/Xorg ./X
