after typing ls -l hlds_l_3111_full.bin . it's shows the following

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 112935519 with the date and time with filename at the end

but when i use ./hlds_l_3111_full.bin

it says : cannot execute binary file

i have even tried doing

chmod u+x hlds_l_3111_full.bin

I went to the Official Counter-strike website and found cs_15_full.tar.gz - is this where you got the file from? It says that you need the full HLDS file first and that only server admins need the tar file.

If you are not trying to run it as a server, you may not need it. Maybe you just need to go to the links on the right hand side of the screen and download one of those.

Can you tell us more about this file:

Where did your file come from?
What do you want it to do?

are you trying to execute it as root? you probably are but just need to check....

from the look of things its already set as an executable so it can't be that so the chmod command won't do anything.

Did you check the md5sum? Maybe the download was a little corrupt?
