Can't run F-Prot complete scan
When I try to run F-Prot Anti-Virus scan, it starts up okay but always freezes up at the
exact same spot every time I try to run it. It downloads and updates the latest virus definitions
with no trouble. According to the documentation, the command line scanner is simply f-prot /
This probably sounds pretty basic to those of you who are familiar with Linux, but I'm still a
newbie with all this, so I hope you'll take pity on me and have patience.
Thanks in advance!

are you running f-prot as root? if you aren't maybe there's something in / that causes f-prot to choke because of permissions or something.

I've tried running f-prot in root too and it freezes up right away. It starts to load the program but this is as far as it gets. See below.

well, to let you know, f-prot really isn't frozen. it's running, but by default it will only output files it finds as infected or are viruses. so if you're scanning "/" and you're clean, you won't see any changes in the output until f-prot is done. do a man f-prot (hopefully you've installed the shortcuts in directories in your path). there should be a way to make f-prot verbose.

Well, as long as it's working, that's all that matters. Thanks much for your help.

f-prot won't run for me either.
I type in f-prot and it just jumps to the next line. doesn't show scanning anything or any kind of report. Doesn't show to be a running process like it's still trying or anything it just automatically jumps to the next line. Anyone have any ideas I could try.
