Can't play vidoes

I have Mandrake 9.1 with Xine and XVideo installed. Neither one of them will play my videos, whether it be .avi, .mpg, .wmv. It gives me an error saying plugin not available. I have a laptop, but Linux detected the Radeon card, which Im pretty sure is correct. Could this be the problem? XVideo gives me an error saying no such file or directory.

I don't use neither XVideo or xine but MPlayer with the Win32Codecs works perfectly playing even Divx without anything extra
