Hi ... I am using VMware Workstation 8.0.0 on my Windows 7 and when I opened my Ubuntu VM , I got this:

Hi Zahraa,
A couple of suggestions.

Step 1: Get another VM and unless you're getting your images from the official Ubuntu repository, try another source for your VM.

Step 2: Read the instructions that came with the image. The image is pre-built, it's expecting a specific environment (a certain type of kernel, or emulation for that kernel type, for example.) The images are of specific hardware architectures so if you don't have that hardware or can't emulate it, you can have a problem.

Step 3: Get an installation CD, start virtual box, when it asks for a source iso, point it at the installation CD and build the VM. (Which is how Slackware Zombies rock it since we don't have an official source for images.). If you build it on the platform you're running it on, you rarely have the issue your experiencing with the pre-built image (at least in my limited experience).

Hope that helps
