ok .. I just updated alot of things(libs x11 and a few others) including the gimp, but now I can't open .jpgs w/ it.. it says:

Opening '/path/to/jpg' failed:

Unknown file type

I can't save as a jpg either and the jpg extention isn't in the select file type menu, though most other formats are .. I'm completely lost

I'm using gimp 2.2.8

EDIT:
it gives me this in the terminal:

/usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/jpeg: error while loading shared libraries: libexif.so.12: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

(gimp-2.2:24356): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: gimp-2.2: wire_read(): error

jpeg plugin for gimp is missing,
either re-install gimp or just copy jpeg plugin file from another system with the same gimp version.
