Can't log out from KDE
I have slackware 10.1 installed. And when in KDE, when I try to log out, it won't let me. It acts like nothing happened. On top of that, once I do that, windows don't close or minimize or anything. There have been a few times where KDE died because the battery in my laptop died, and linux was not shut down correctly.
Any idea's on how I might fix this problem? |
try to press ctrl+alt+backspace

Doh! I should have tried that. I knew that it exited X, but I didn't think to try it. Guess I'll just have to use that from now on. thanks!

also check your system out and see if you have some broken something running in the background that won't give up it's hold on x and die like a frozen or zombie prcess or something gone oopsand kill it off before you shut down.
What kde does if something weird is running when you shutdown (something that went wrong or in a race condition or something) it will remember the broken thing was running and start it up again the next time you log in so your system seems like it's broken and won't shut down. |
