Can't log in to PC...playing w/ LDAP
I messed up my sign in to my RH8 PC because I was messing around with OpenLDAP. I had setup up a test LDAP server and client pc, now I can't get into the PC. Error is 'Authentication Failed'. I can still log in to the the test server.
How can I undo the sign on issue on my PC to log on locally again? any ideas? Thanks, Vince |
which user are you trying to log in as? Have you tried another user account?

I used a regular user account and root.
I resolved the problem by correcly setting up the test LDAP server. I was able to log in and change the settings. But I still wouldn't know how to reset the password authentication from the client station itself. thanks for the reply, Vince |
Hi vdi_nenna,
perhaps it is outtimed, but you can boot your client with your first redhat cd. You will find yourselve logged as root into a Linux, that has your old filesystem mounted at /mnt/sysimage. There you can manually reset the system-auth. I read somewhere, that any bootable Linux-CD / disc / ... would do this job. Knoppix, or whatever you can find... Good Luck, Clemens von Musil |
