can't launch ggv

I use ggv on a different workstation in my group. I have gnome on my desktop, and I connect via terminal app to a different workstation and then try to launch ggv. It stopped working this week and this is the error I get in log/messages.

I've tried with and without X11 tunnelling and I've already tried using xhost +<myhost> before connecting via ssh.

Failed to get lock for daemon, exiting: Failed to lock '/brady/home/jim/.gconfd/lock/ior': probably another process has the lock, or your operating system has NFS file locking misconfigured (Resource temporarily unavailable)

the message printed to the screen when I try to launch ggv is:

(ggv:18236): Bonobo-WARNING **: Failed to get '/desktop/gnome/interface/menubar_detachable': 'Adding client to server's list failed, CORBA error:'

amd the error inside the ggv software is:

Adding client to server's list failed, CORBA error:

Can someone help me with this? Thank you!
