Can't Install RedHat 9

Hey everyone,

Ok....I am starting to get frustarted! I am trying to install Linux for the first time ever, and can't seem to figure out what I am doing wrong. I have downloaded and burned to CD's, the 3 disk images for RedHat's version 9.0. I have created a boot disk, that gets me into the initial setup screens (where I select language, keyboard, etc..). Then when I select to install it from theCD ROM, it tells me it can't find the RedHat CD.

I currently run Windows XP, and have created a partition with Partition Magic. Everything looks fine with the partition, as far as I can tell. When I start the system I have it setup so that I can select wether or not to boot to Linux, or XP. If I choose Linux, it stalls out on a screen that says "now loading linux" (or something like that). I have been unsuccessful at getting help from RedHats installation manual.

I appreciate any help you can give me. If you need any more details, please feel free to ask. Thanks

Jeremy

Did you check the cds to see if you burned them correctly??

When you look at the CD in windows, do you see a bunch of files and directories? If you see only a single file named something.iso, you burned the CD incorrectly.

You need to burn the .iso file as a CD Image. To do this in Nero, use File -> CD Image (from memory, they may have changed the wording). It will then give you a file picker for the cd image file, choose the ISO.

Yeah Qzukk and bling bling are probably right. May I suggest going to www.linuxiso.org for instructions on how to burn iso images.
