can't install ia32-libs


My 64bit laptap with Debian 7.8.0...

Yes, this issue is about multiarch. This should resolve your issue.

Code:
dpkg --add-architecture i386
apt-get update
apt-get install libc6:i386

It is 2 years since I last did that, and could not remember the exact syntax.
I have now written it down!

Welcome. If you do happen to forget, just Google the error. When troubleshooting problems, doing a web search on an error message is often overlooked.
