I do appreciate very much your willingness to bother to take the time to assist people like me with dumb questions like how to install and run a bit of software in Linux.. so thank you knudfl for trying.

I can run avida on line in my Windows system but I need to get the whole thing in its source format to get a closer look at the code and data so that is why I am trying to do this with Linux.. There seems to be a lot of documentation about understanding how to run it but not much about full installations on Linux.. thank you.

I am fairly sure I made a humble apology to everyone here a while ago.. but I don't see it now. Is it possible it was removed by a moderating bot or person or am I just dreaming? Anyway I am very sorry for any offence caused. I get a bit terse in my response to what to me seams unintelligible. I would still like to know how to run this thing preferably before the next bush fire takes me out.
