Can't Import Kmail Addresses Into Evolution

I just installed Evolution. I have been using Kmail but prefer Evolution. I exported my address book as a vcard and tried to import it into Evolution, but got an unknown error. I tried again with the same results. Is there a way to import my Kmail addresses into Evolution?

can you export from kmail as a *.ldif file?

No the only options are for Vcard 3.0 or addressbook.csv. When I select Vcard 3.0 nothing happens as far as I can tell.

Thanks for the reply,
Ted.

Try in the address book browser menu EDIT, SELECT ALL, before doing the vcard export. Then say FILE, EXPORT,
give the file a name and try and import that to evolution. I am not using Evolution but for the purpose of knowledge I just tried this out and it works.

The trick therefore is to EDIT, SELECT ALL first and then to do the export and import into Evelution.

Oh, thanks. I probably would have never thought of that.

Have a good day,
Ted.

Couldn't get it to work

Hey there,
When I Select All in Kmail Addressbook and then export as VCard, Evolution only imports the first entry of my Kmail Addressbook - ie. it didn't work for me.... any suggestions?

Jonathan.

Can Evolution read .csv files? Select all the Kmail addresses, and export to a file, it will call it addressbook.csv, maybe Evolution will read it in, I don't know because I have uninstalled all gnome stuff inc. Evolution as I am happy with kde.

Evolution

Evolution can't import .csv files unfortunately back to the drawing board I guess.
