Can't get kdevelop installed!

I am having a really tough time with this. Check this I try to install kdevelop but I need kdelibs-devel . But for that I need the exact version as kdelibs-common. And for either of those qt and qt-devel. And those have to be the same version. For that I need xorg-x11-devel which in turn requires libGL and libGLU... I really hate rpms. Does anyone have any advice? I could really use some advice.

Since you don't name your distro, it's a bit difficult to give you specific advice. So.

Get 'apt for rpm'. There's a version specific to RedHad and Mandriva distros, and a version for SuSE. Once you get apt installed and configured, run 'apt-get update' to update the database of available rpm's for your distro from an appropriate repository, then run 'apt-get install kde-devel' (or perhaps kdedevelope, I don't remember how it's named in the repository).

If there are dependency problems, apt-get will take care of them for you. All you need is the patience (especially with a dial-up connection) to wait for the downloads.

Hi!

When I used RedHat 9 I got the exact same problem! I saw all the dependencies and installed Fedora 2. Which version of Mandrake are you using?

10.2, but today when I was looking around for apt for mandrake I ran into a forum that said that mandrake uses urpmi instead. I fired it up and although it couldnt find kdevelop it found kdelibs-devel which was the main package I needed, and it auto downloaded all of the dependents for kdelibs-devel. We'll see how it works, I am downloading now.
