can't get Gaim, Kwikdisk, or KMix programs to start at boot

I have three programs--Gaim, Kwikdisk, and KMix--that I can't get to start automatically. I looked through their menus, and couldn't find such an option. I'm puzzled, because in MEPIS 3.4 (I'm using MEPIS 7), Kwikdisk and Kmix started automatically, and I think Gaim would if I had left it open the last time I shut down.

If you are using Kde, drag the icon from the main menu and drop it in ~/.kde/Autostart. It will autostart on boot up.

I expect gnome has something similar.

Thank you. That worked for Gaim, but not for Kwikdisk. Trying to drag Kwikdisk from KMenuedit into Autostart produces the error message "The file or folder /usr/share/applications/kde/kwikdisk.desktop does not exist." Which is odd, because I'm dragging it into Autostart not from the desktop, as that filename suggests, but from inside KMenuedit.

By the way, when Gaim started from Autostart, it didn't remember any of my settings for it.
