Can't get displays working in OpenSUSE 10.3 KDE
I am setting up a new OpenSUSE system. I'm trying to get my displays working, but am having zero luck.
My video card is an nVidia geforce 7100 gs (NV44). It has d-sub and dvi. I have two MultiSync LCD2070vx monitors. I've gotten this working before but on a different computer and an ATI card. Currently, if I go into SaX, it doesn't recognize the monitors (the MultiSync 2070 driver isn't in the list of monitors), it doesn't give me a dual-head option, and it doesn't recognize the native resolution of the monitors (1600x1200). Help! |
Check the software you have installed. Make certain that you have the nvidia driver installed. Then try a couple of nvidia utilities that come as part of the driver package.
/usr/bin/nvidia-settings /usr/bin/nvidia-xconfig After that, if you still don't have dual-head working, you still have SaX2 to work with. |
Thanks for the suggestion. Turned out I had installed the wrong nvidia driver, as YAST gave me no indication of which of the two I should choose.
The irony is, ATI is supposed to be worse for Linux than nVidia, but I've done this setup using an ATI card with no problems multiple times :P Anyway, solved now. Thanks. Nathan |
