Can't get camera recognized with Guvcview
I tried to get Cheese to work properly (the video and audio were very out of sync) but couldn't. So I tried Guvcview. (I'm on Xubuntu 15.10. On a 64 bit computer.) When I first tried to open it I got a little window saying: Guvcview error: Could not start a video stream in the device.
When I clicked on "Ok" it opened the Guvcview config window and I clicked on 'capture video' and there was nothing. (But then I found later the files were saved and there was audio, but only audio.) I switched to a different usb port. This time I got: Guvcview errror: no video device found. And this time when I clicked on ok I did not the the config window (or anything at all). I just need decent video with properly synced audio. So, #1) Any ideas on how to get the camera recognized in Guvcview? #2)I'm open to other ideas for getting the decent video with the properly synced audio. Thanks. |

Code:
gregg@LG:~/Desktop$ guvcview The camera is a Nikon Coolpix L15 |
Is that a webcam or a digital camera? Guvcview and Cheese are commonly for webcams, that is, live motion picture cameras attached to computers. Stand-alone digital cameras are a whole nother thing.
I admit I'm puzzled. Could you provide more detail as to what precisely you are attempting? |

My heavens, how could you! I haven't made a mistake since, at least, five (or six or seven or eight or nine or--what time is it, anyway?) p. m.
I don't use webcams often, but I found a thread on stackexchange that might help you get started on shooting this trouble: http://video.stackexchange.com/quest...ring-recording I used this search string: "webcam not sync cheese" Beyond that, I'm afraid I won't be able to help much because I just don't have much experience with webcams. |
Maybe give skype a try:-

And thanks but the tutorial is way too much for me and my meager computer knowledge. There's got to be something though, right? I just want simple video with synced audio. Thanks. |

I'll ask around and see what other members are using when it comes to webcams and videos. |
