Exclamation Can't find AUmix or Kmix in Mandrake 9.1 to adjust volume of sound.

I'm a new linux user, so bear with me. I've freshly installed Mandrake 9.1 on my Dell Dimension XPS m200s and everything seems to work fine. I managed to get the onboard audio setup using sndconfig in terminal. I get sound and it sounds good. No crackles or anything. The problem I have is I can't adjust the volume. I've been searching for how to get a volume adjustment and all the things I've read are telling me to run AUmix or Kmix, but when I try to run these with the run command, I get "command or application not found".. I've walked the hard drive up and down and can't find these installed anywhere. I downloaded AUmix and when I ran the install, I get a message saying something to the effect of "Application already installed" - WHERE!!?? If anyone has any ideas, I could use them ... Thanks

It's not in your menu???
It should be under Sound and audio or something like that.

Are you using KDE or Gnome?

I'm not really sure how to get to the menu. Right now I'm using gnome, but I tried the same things in KDE also.

heh heh on Gnome it's the smelly foot icon on the bottom left.
Gnome >> Sound and Audio >> Volume
[or something like that - im not at home]
I don't use KDE so I am not sure where it's at in KDE.

Yep, I got the smelly foot deal, but nowhere on my menu is there a volume deal... I have a multimedia, and the gives me a menu with graphics and sound, and on the sound menu all I get is xmms. Uggggg..

First off, don't type 'AUmix" cause it won't work. it's 'aumix' (note lowercase). and it's 'kmix', not 'Kmix'. everyThIng Is CaSE SenSiTiVE AROunD hErE

Case sensitive

Ok, I tried running them with lower case and I still get an error. The exact error is
"Failed to execute command: 'aumix'
Details: No such file or directory

go to mandrake control center, software management and then install software. Search for kdemultimedia and install that package. Afterwards, you should have kmix.
