Question Can't boot windows xp with qemu

I've bumped into a serious problem with qemu. I can't boot my windows xp cd. I am running ubuntu 8.04 and was following the instructions on ubuntu support page https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wi...UnderQemuHowTo, but each time qemu hangs at this screen:

I can work with other windows, however using top command gives me 97% usage of the CPU. I have tried adding -no-acpi options, or creating *.img without -f modifier but that didn't help.

DSLs iso boots just great and smoothly. I am thinking now that my laptop is just to old for this kind of tricks as it has only 512mb of ram.

Cheers!

You can give virtualbox a try. Most people find it a lot nicer than qemu. I think 512MB of ram is a little lite if you want to run winxp in a virtualized environment but it should run, albeit a little slowly. For running winxp, I've found virtualbox to be the best of the lot for any virtualization software out there, even better than vmware, certainly loads better than qemu.
