can't boot linux..
Hi guys,
I'd like your help in this...
I had both windowsxp and linux installed on my computer, in different disk drives. windowsxp was under hda1 and linux under hdb1. I was switching between them by using grub.
One day my windowsxp crashed... and had to install again.
this unfortunately formatted my mbr and now i have no access to my linux partition.
(I hadn't created a boot disk...!damn)
Do you have any ideas how may i set grub or lilo up again, without changing my linux partition?
Can I do anything from rescue mode (by booting from the installation cd)?
Thanks in advance

I don't know if this is useful, but in Slackware when you boot off the CD you can say:
linux root=/dev/hdb1 (at the first boot prompt)
It will then Boot using the CD Kernel, but Boot you into YOUR linux partition and then you can do all your fun fixing stuff =)
