Can't boot anymore! modprobe: can't locate module block-major-??
I've been using a SuSE box (currently SuSE 8.2) as a firewall/webserver for the last few years (PII/450). One HD, one CD, one FD, two NICs, one videocard... it has been running 24-7 for years with very few interruptions.
Today I had to turn it off for some reason and when I re-booted it would start loading the kernel and get stuck displaying the following lines: modprobe: modprobe: Can't local module block-major-53 [repeat 100s of times] modprobe: modprobe: Can't local module block-major-54 [repeat 100s of times] modprobe: modprobe: Can't local module block-major-55 ... modprobe: modprobe: Can't local module block-major-56 ... modprobe: modprobe: Can't local module block-major-57 ... etc. etc. Once it gets up to a certain number it starts from the bottom again. I can boot the machine from a CD but don't know what to do at that point! Someone please help! :Pengy: |
