Can't add samba users
So, I set up a new Ubuntu server for our small company (10 users or so) Most people run Windows or some sort, but I got to decide on the server. I've been using Mandriva 2004, but it's time for an upgrade.
I created all my users in the system, modified the smb.conf file. I used "sudo smbpasswd -a dave" to add myself. I then added 2 or 3 other users the same way, all ok. For the rest of the users, I kept getting "Unable to add user k--"
When I added myself and the first users, I just hit Enter when prompted for a password. When I tried re-entering them, I used passwords. I was able to browse the share as one of the entered users from a windows machine.
I tried to look at the smbpasswd file, to even see if an entry was made, but could not find it.
Can someone please tell me where the smbpasswd file is, and what may have happened for the system to no longer allow users to be added?
