CAD software. Has anyone had experience with BRLcad or Varkon? Both are CAD software.

I have often tried to install CAD software but usually fall back on Wine and Autocad. Many of the better quality programmes have a long list of dependancies which are very time consuming and often unreliable to install. However, I noticed recently that Slackware was porting BRLcad so I am downloading to give it a try. Has anyone had experience with this software which they would care to share? Thanks.

I would suggest that you try DraftSight:

It is cross platform compatible.
I have it installed on Windows Vista on my computer at work, and on Ubuntu Natty on my laptop at home.

I have had success opening Autocad files from even the latest versions.
If you are familiar with Autocad then you should be able to find your way around the program with a minimal learning curve.

Cheers!
