Burning NRG images

Is there any way to burn .nrg files in Linux?

Bruce Hill 05-19-2004 12:37 AM

No - Nero burns nrg files. You can burn iso files, and you can compress files.

Hammett 05-19-2004 06:01 AM

Why the hell Nero has to create a different way to make images?? Why the hell they don't use the standand ISO? so everybody can burn the iso, no matter wich software?
Yes, i know, they do because that way you'll have to buy the software, but i think this is a very very annoying. Is it sooo difficult to stay to the defaults??
Software should not be like that, it should help people to get their work faster and easier, not harder and more complicated with non-standard things like .nrg image files.

Those nrg files are a pain. I use winiso on my M$ box to convert the nrg to an iso file. It works good and then I get rid of the nrg file. May even work under wine, but I haven't tried it yet.

Hammett - could you please clean up your post? There are plenty of forums out there where that language is acceptable, but LQ is not one of them.

Thanks in advance

I tried that WinISO (on another computer, real big pain), and it converted and burned alright, but didn't work for what I intended it to do (boot on my DreamCast)

sn9ke_eyes 05-19-2004 09:50 PM

you sure you have a bootable image ? did you try the disc with your dc boot cd ?

muxman 05-21-2004 07:10 AM

With Winiso you may have to load in a boot file for it to work. It does sometimes lose the boot data, happened to me before. Take the good bootable disk and with that you can save a small boot image that you can then load on another iso to make it bootable. It should keep the bootable info though.

That's a real mature response. mcleodnine is a well respected moderator of this site and asked you politely to clean up your post, in which you did but now you have to make an immature post restating what you were asked nicely to clean up, which could have been as easy as editing and then moving on. When you post such comments like you did though, your not just disrespecting the moderator who asked you nicely to clean up your post but your disrespecting every member who uses this site and the site itself as a whole.

Let me remind you that if you don't like our rules here, then you don't have to use this site. Too many warnings will make you lose privileges to this site.

If you feel this is not the case, don't bother emailing one of the moderators, bring this up with Jeremy the site owner, I'm sure he appreciates such immature behavior and childish uncalled for acts of insubordination on your part that you displayed with your last post.

Regards.

PS. Now once again, clean up your post please as its not always the mods who care about such language, we're tired of the members who don't want to read such unecessary garbage who report such things so we take action to please our community that use this site.

In more than 300 posts, this is the first time I use swearwords (or whatever are called/written). So I would really appretitate if you don't treat me as an immature child, basically because you don't know anything about me, as I don't know anything about you either. It's OK it's not allowed to use that words (and I will respect it from now on), is it to insult people saying that? Another fact is that replying using some "not-welcomed" words is not an insubordination (remember, this is not the army), it's just a way to express something, and if its not allowed, I will correct my fault, no doubt about it.

Hope we can end this in a friendly way
Regards

PS: Yeah, i did the post-cleaning :D:D:D

drigz 05-27-2004 05:02 AM

that wasn't the insubordination, it was you refusing to do it.

nrg2iso

I found a link on
http://reviewed.homelinux.org/howtos...x.html.en#toc9
that pointed to
http://gregory.kokanosky.free.fr/v4/...rg2iso.en.html
which appears to be a tool to convert nrg files to iso, looks very nice, and simple.
