Burning CDs with ide-cd

I just upgraded the kernel in my Slackware 10 installation to 2.6.7. How do I burn to my IDE CD-RW drive using the ide-cd module rather than ide-scsi? Linus seems to really hate ide-scsi, but every HOWTO I've googled tells me to use ide-scsi. Yet Linus claims in the kernel's documentation that ide-scsi is no longer needed for burning CDs.

Is anyone as confused about this as I am? Which tool can I use to burn CDs without using ide-scsi?

Thanks,
mdavidn

i use cdrecord with no problems on my ide cdrw. i have to turn the speed down to 2x if i want a successful burn, but that is due to the fact i have a really cheap burner and use low end medium for my blank CDs
