Hey guys whats up, i got this *.dmg file that i need to burn but iam wondering how to burn it.. i have been doing searches on the forum and i found a topic talking about a dmg2iso program but it doesnt seem to work? its written in perl. and on the site it says.. just type in dmg2iso.pl name.dmg name.iso and it would convert but i get this error:

./dmg2iso.pl file.dmg file1.iso
: bad interpreter: No such file or directory

i got the program from this site: http://vu1tur.eu.org/tools/

does anyone know what this error might mean? and yes i do have perl installed and yes i set the permissions to execute it.

Look at the first line in dmg2iso.pl. It should say something like:

#!/usr/bin/perl

Make sure that the location of the perl interpreter matches. For example, if the command:

which perl

Reports:

/usr/local/bin/perl

then update the dmg2iso.pl script to point to the install location on your machine. For the example above:

#!/usr/local/bin/perl

ya i did set it to the correct location.. on my pc its /usr/bin/perl...
and i still get that error

OK, I downloaded the script. Two things...

First, the script requires as a pre-requisite the perl-Compress-Zlib package be installed (apt, yum, whatever your favorite tool is).

Second, in order to run it, execute it as:

perl dmg2iso.pl input.dmg output.iso

if the script is in your search path, then:

perl -S dmg2iso.pl input.dmg output.iso

Or, you can add a '-w' switch to the first line:

#!/usr/bin/perl -w

Adding the '-w' switch will let you run it as a normal command, e.g.,:

./dmg2iso.pl input.dmg output.iso

you couls also check that the partition where the script is installed has execution permissions
