buku bookmanager problem: [ERROR] Unlock database first

Buku is a cli bookmark manager: https://github.com/jarun/buku/tree/v4.3

I tried to get a list of all the bookmarks that I had made with buku and run the command: buku -l

But this is not the command to do that. This will LOCK the database. It asked for a password and I really don't know what I had typed in at the time (although I found it weird).

Fortunately, I have made a backup of buku in the past.
I uninstalled buku (pip3 uninstall buku) and this time I installed it with a .deb file.

Unfortunately, importing the backup database doesn't work: buku -i bukubookmarkds.db. I get the error: [ERROR]: Unlock database first.

Because buku is dependent on cryptography, I purged python-pythography and python3-pythograpghy with Synaptic Package Manager. Then I reinstalled both files again. Then I reinstalled buku again. And tried to import the backup again.
Yet, I get the same error: [ERROR]: Unlock database first.

What do I have to do to fix this error so that I can import the buku bookmarks backup?

I had, fortunately, used an old password. So I was able to unlock the database.
