Building qgis-3.8.1 on slackware-14.2/x86_64

I tried using the SlackBuilds.org script on qgis-3.8.1 but it failed here:

-- Found Python site-packages: /usr/lib64/python3.7/site-packages
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/tmp/SBo/qgis-3.8.1/cmake/FindPyQt5.py", line 34, in <module>
import PyQt5.pyqtconfig
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'PyQt5'

Yet, PyQt5 is installed here:
$ ls /var/log/packages/ | grep PyQt5
PyQt5-5.9.2-x86_64-1_SBo
python3-PyQt5-5.9.2-x86_64-1_SBo

Then I tried building from source using cmake, but ccmake could not find sip, which is also installed here.

I would like to learn how to work with the cmake system and inform it where both PyQt5 and sip are installed (as well as any others that come up after fixing these two.)

Regards,

Rich
