Building ARM toolchain

Dear all,

I would need to compile software for ARM architecture on my x86 machine.
If I am not wrong I should compile gcc and I also should have the kernel headers.

But I am quiet confused which target and options should I run gcc.

I would appreciate if someone could help me.
Thank you in advance.

Simon
