browser questions

Konqueror:
1 - How to make konq open to a different page when starting it?
2 - How to clear the history?
3 - How to prevent the address bar drop down?

Galeon:
Doesn't want to keep settings. It seems to keep personal settings for session only, then returns to default settings at re-start.
It's been perfect and rock-solid for a year, then I re-installed Mandrake recently and now Galeon is all silly.

Mozilla:
I run Mandrake 8.2 which comes with Moz 0.9.8 and a couple of weeks ago I tried to upgrade to 1.2 and fried my system in the process.
I removed the old version (0.9.8) as is recommended in the readme, installed 1.2 and went into critical meltdown.

I'd like to know if I can install Moz 1.2 along side 0.9.8
Has anyone ever done that and survive?

And finally, is it just me or is Mandrake 9 jittery as hell?
I went back to my good old 8.2.

Have you tried the Konqueror settings menu there are all sorts of config things in there.

As for Galeon I'm at a loss since I don't use it.

I don't really use mozilla I run phoenix which is smaller and comes with pop-up blocking built in :)

and yes Mandrake 9 was a bit weird. 8.2 is the one i like the most so far but I've switched to gentoo recently and am loving it. Though Mandrake does have some nice stuff :).

Hi Palin, (related to Michael? wink! wink! nudge, nudge.)

Yes I've dug to the deepest depths of konq's settings, and I can't locate the said concerns.
I expect I'll have to go into the config files, but I have no idea where they are.

Somebody?

Moz and Galeon can both block popups, and then some.
I don't know why I took a shine to Galeon. It's a fairly non-descript browser, but I use it all the time.

I'd still like to get someone's opinion about installing Moz 1.2 alongside Moz 0.9.8

Konqueror -
get to the page you want, choose Window - Save View Profile Web Browsing, and if you choose to save Window size as well as url, it will reopen exactly as you closed it.

Can't help with the rest - :)

PS 9.0 is as stable as possible on my system as is 9.1 beta 3.
