browser after x window

Hello,
I am newbie and i want to make firefox browser should come before x windows starts in linux system. so can anyone help me how to do that?

What you want is impossible. Firefox is not designed to run without X; not designed to run in a console or virtual terminal.

If you need a console browser that works without X, consider 'Links' or 'Lynx' browsers.

sorry guys. i asked wrong question. Now only i came to know that withour x windows firefox will not come. So, firefox should come after loading x window. after loading basic things of x window the firefox browser should start. How to do that? please help me

So, what you're looking for is a way to "autostart" firefox, once your desktop is running?

If this is the case, you'll need to tell us what Linux version you are using, and what desktop enviroment (KDE, Gnome, or some other..). Many (maybe most or all) desktop systems have an "autostart" folder or similar mechanism, for making things start up automatically.

yes exactly. I am using Ubuntu 9.10. And my desktop environment is GNOME.

IIRC there is an item in the gnome menu called "Sessions". In that I think you can add programs that you want to start automatically when you log in.

Where this sessions menu will be? I thought of changinf some file like /etc/init.d/rc etc.. But i am sure which file is that. Please help me

I think gnome gives you three menus on the panel, and one is called something like "settings" or "system", in one of those menus I think there should be something called "session" or similar. You also have the option of reading the gnome documentation: it's totally useless for technical stuff, but I think it covers this type of thing.

Any gnome users here able to do the "Foo -> Bar -> Baz" type thing that shows how to navigate menus?

Ok. I am having this startup applications menu. But i want to add this firefox technically, i mean in /etc folder. If i add my browser in this startup applications it will also run when i reboot my system. But i want to know in which folder it is getting alter when i add in this "startup applications".
