Lucid beta2 is ... Beta software.
"Beta" is for testing, not "upgrading to".

By all means install it to its own partition and test it, but do NOT "upgrade" to it. It is not ready.

Your package manager would have told you when it is ready to "upgrade" to lucid when it is released (probably) at the end of this month.

I always prefer to do a clean install when moving from one release to the next.

Yeah I know, but I couldn't wait. 14 days I think.

I did a clean install to get around it anyway.

why do you do a clean install any reason?

Clean installs generally work. Updates don't alwaysdue to various factors related to changes in the updated files. Be that as it may, I often upgrade, but I try to do it a few (20 of so) files at a time. Experience has taught me that upgrading 100+ files at once is asking for problems. YMMV.

huh? don't know that one

side line, my backups are usually ok, BUT this time i'd made myself a some more space on /morespc forgot!!! opps, oh well, only 2 seasons of a tv show. nothing serious.

have u tried lucid beta2? it wasn't its fault it went wrong, power failurs being the main problem.

i think it's faster karmic. but myfriend has noticed, LTS ones xx.4 seem to work better, namly jaunty was good too.

YMMV - your mileage may vary.

Did a quick run of Lubuntu-Lucid-Beta2 off a 1GB USB stick. Seemed to work very well. My desktop installation of Lubuntu is an upgrade from a fresh install of Lubuntu from an alpha iso; no upgrade problems from alpha to beta
