brightness with mplayer using -vo sdl?

Hi =]]

Once again problem. I got an old PC - Celeron 366 with nvidia geforce card. I find out that mplayer with -vo sdl -ao sdl options with X plays my video files best. Unfortunately i can't change the brightness of the media, the movies are very dark. How to change the brightness ?

p.s. I tried copying the input.conf file, but still nothing when i press 3 or 4. the command line option -brightness doesn't work too. Am i wrong somewhere?

From the mplayer manpage:

(The following keys are valid only when using a hardware accelerated video output (xv,
(x)vidix, (x)mga, etc), or the software equalizer filter (-vf eq or -vf eq2).
1 and 2 adjust contrast
3 and 4 adjust brightness
5 and 6 adjust hue
7 and 8 adjust saturation

You could try one of these options (also from the manpage):

-brightness <-100-100>
-vf eq[=bright:cont]
-vf eq2[=gamma:contrast:brightness:saturation:rg:gg:bg]
