bootsplash for 2.6.11

i tried to emerge bootsplash on gentoo and use it on vanilla-sources and gentoo-sources both based ont he 2.6.11 kernel sources and it says this kernel version is not supported. is there a patch anwhere that will support these kernel versions. id like to try bootsplash but i dont want to downgrade my kernel.

I assume it read your kernel config (or your running kernel) and saw that it wasn't patched for bootsplash support. I'd patch the kernel and then recompile it. Boot up with the new kernel and then try it. Thats just me tho.. I don't use Gentoo or anything else that uses non-standard packages. I prefer to use vanilla stuff and then add what I want so I know what I have...

I'm also sure you can "emerge" an already patched kernel for bootsplash as well.

I'm sorry. I don't use gentoo so I don't even know why I replied... I'm inherently distrustful of things that are done for you because you normally get problems such as these... If you manually patch a kernel.org kernel with that patch I listed and then recompile your kernel, it will just work. Period... That and obviously the actuall bootsplash package needs installed and configured...

Maybe a gentoo user can jump in here...

That patch works on both 2.6.11 and 2.6.11.10 so I'm not sure what your doing wrong... Or actually, I'm not even sure what your doing to begin with....
