I would definitely go with the repair option on the windows installation disk. The boot repair can make some minor repairs but since it is windows you are better off using their software.
I used the Windows installation disc, not the recovery disc that would have come with the laptop, but the official Windows install disc. I used the Boot recovery option thing, and it said that it was successful, but I still cannot boot into Windows. Whenever I try to boot to the C: drive, all I get is a black screen with a "_" blinking. I ended up screwing everything over, so now I have to use a portable grub disc to boot into mint. I tried using the boot-repair program on recommended settings, then on the advanced tab, I tried using restore MBR, and still nothing. I then tried to do it manually. I purged all of grub from mint, and then went into the C: drive through mint, and erased anything with boot. I then tried to use the Windows recovery, but still nothing. I get no error messages or anything. Is there a way that I could install Windows over top of the current install keeping everything but the old system files?
