Smile booting remastersys iso using grub2

is it possible to boot remastersys iso usibg grub2

there are two menu entries in grub.cfg

menuentry "Ubuntu 10.04 Live ISO" {
loopback loop (hd0,4)/ISO/ubuntu-10.04-desktop-i386.iso
linux (loop)/casper/vmlinuz boot=casper iso-scan/filename=/ISO/ubuntu-10.04-desktop-i386.iso file=(loop)/preseed/ubuntu.seed quiet splash --
initrd (loop)/casper/initrd.lz
}

and

menuentry "Ubuntu 10.04 Custom ISO" {
loopback loop (hd0,4)/ISO/custom.iso
linux (loop)/casper/vmlinuz boot=casper iso-scan/filename=/ISO/custom.iso file=(loop)/preseed/custom.seed quiet splash --
initrd (loop)/casper/initrd.gz
}

while the first one works perfectly , the second one reboots the computer.

thanks

you need to have Lupin installed and casper too if not already

apt-cache search lupin

then it should work...

Smile How to install From HDD to same HDD

as Linus72 pointed, now remastersysed iso boots from grub2. Few days back i messed up my system so tried to reinstall from iso booted from grub2. But the grub2 booted iso is not able to format 'swap' which seems to be mandatory during ubuntu install.
i have:
/ on sda2
/boot on sda5
/home on sda4,and
swap on sda3

and remastersysed iso is kept in /boot
Is this possible to do so.
Thank you.

Question free magic brokec

after the mess up i reinstalled the remastered version via pen drive. Installed some new softwares and again remastered it. The new remastered iso says 'free magic broken at 0x.......' after is is selected from the grub2.

the grub2 entry being
menuentry "Ubuntu 10.04 Recovery Disk Latest" {
loopback loop (hd0,5)/recovery/ubuntu-10.04-desktop-i386-custom_new.iso
linux (loop)/casper/vmlinuz boot=casper iso-scan/filename=/recovery/ubuntu-10.04-desktop-i386-custom_new.iso file=(loop)/preseed/custom.seed quiet splash --
initrd (loop)/casper/initrd.gz
}

sda5 is my /boot
Is there a way to cure it.
Thank you.

so the iso you remastered says that error, not a installed to hdd system?

you can remaster it without installing it anywhere using this script(s)
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ml#post4074415

you gotta edit scripts for what desktop you want,etc
the script goes off of your /etc/apt so setup your sources.list
beforehand,etc

theres many variables to edit in the script so look at it carefully..
if you wanna remaster different iso edit that too

I've never seen that error so dont know?
are you using dist- or backup mode in remastersys?
