Booting Problems:
 

I recently ran YaST under SUSE 10.0 to apply the recent patches. All went well. After the update, I worked on some e-mail via Evolution, Compiled a C program successfully, then due to someone with a back-hoe the power went out.

When the power returned, I restarted my machine and I get these terminal messages:

To restart I must have the 10.0 CD 1 in the CDROM and do an INSTALLATION

a box appears with SUSE Linux 7.3 /dev/hdc3 i386
SUSE Linux 10.0 /dev/hdd7 i386
I select Linux 10.0 and everything seems to be okay.

Now what do I need to edit to have it boot directly from the HD and not via the CD Installation steps?

Why can the Installation process find and boot from hdd7 when the HD boot cannot mount it?

What should I be looking for?

It seems that your initrd image might be messed up, or your bzip2 might be screwy. Try running Yast again and see if it pulls in any updates. If not, try copining the initrd off the cd and replacing the one in /boot.
