hi,
i have got VCom's System Commander 7 installed in my computer as the
primary bootloader in the MBR: it prompts for OS selection. It works
properly with all Windows. However when i installed Red Hat Linux 9.0
with the Grub installed in the MBR, it reported of a defective boot
record. Later i found out from it's manual that it suggests installing
the Lilo in the root superblock i.e /dev/hda5 instead of /dev/hda for
properly booting into linux. However it didn't work that way also .
At present i have got 98' & XP in two primary partitions and Linux in
the Extended partition with Lilo installed in /dev/hda5. I have to use
a boot diskette whenever boot into linux (if i have to use Sc)
Also red hat claims that it does not support 3rd party bootloaders like
System Commander.
Temporarily though I have disabled SC from MBR & installed GRUB in MBR
by grub-install.It's working fine. But this is not actually using
Sc to boot into linux as i could do for other OS's.
I won't like to remove SC 7 , but then how can i get it to recognize
linux's bootrecord ?
Awating Suggestions.
dhritiman das.
