bootable linux installation

I have got a P-II, 233MHz (64 Mb) machine running on Windows ME. I have got two hard disks. 8GB & 2GB. I had earlier installed LINUX on the smaller disk. LILO was installed on MBR. Later I had some problem with LILO and I had to reformat the disk to remove LILO completely. Next time I used third party boot loader (XOSL) but after some time I again encountered some problem and eventually I had to reformat the disk again.

Now, can any body tell me, whether it is possible make both of my hard disks bootable independently i.e. the bigger one will be WIDOWS bootable and the smaller one LINUX bootable. My BIOS allows me to select the boot device. If it is possible, what do I need to do while installing LINUX on my other disk.

Thanking you,

BS Bora

Well I s'pose you could, but it would be a lot easier just to get LILO working properly. You will need to let LILO latch on to your MBR and then you will get the option of which OS to boot. Doing it from the BIOS will cause some grief as most kernels are set up to scan the PCI set - totally ignoring what your BIOS is reporting to the system. Even if you got it functioning that way, you will eventually want to read something from the Windows drive/partition. (Really, you will. I'm sure of it).
